A bike shop owner has found a new home for a vintage bike that was stolen from the garage of a home in the Netherlands.
The bike was found on Sunday in the city of Rotterdam, in the heart of the city.
Dutch police say the owner contacted them about the theft and said he could sell the bike for €100.
The owner told them that he had taken it on a ride around the Netherlands and that it was “not his favourite bike” but it had been sitting in a garage for a long time.
“This bike was in a good condition,” said an officer on the scene.
“We found it on the way there but unfortunately it was not there.
We were able to recover it.”
The owner said he was going to sell it to someone who would use it as a base for his new bike.
“The buyer asked me for the name and address of the owner,” he said.
“I could not provide it but we asked him to leave his address.
I also wanted him to give us his phone number.””
I am happy that I found this bike,” the owner said.
The owners owner also offered to pay for the repairs.
“It is a shame that it took me so long to find this bike because I thought it was my favourite bike,” he told the broadcaster NOS.
“But I am not too happy about this because I love it.”
